First launch

Since 6.0, the very first thing StudyNow asks is: What do you want to use StudyNow for? — School or University / College. Nothing is preselected, and the question cannot be skipped, because it decides terms, fields and rules. How school continues is described under School and university; this section is about university.

If you choose University / College, a seven-step introduction runs: dashboard, courses, rating, calendar, achievements and privacy. You can page through it, swipe, or skip it at the top right. It never appears again on its own — Settings → View the introduction again brings it back whenever you want.

After that you have a choice:

• Set up yourself — opens the form for your first semester straight away.
• Start with sample data — StudyNow creates the first semester of Computer Science (B.Sc.) at Paderborn University, with the real compulsory modules: Introduction to Computer Science, Programming 1, Modelling and Linear Algebra for Computer Science. Problem sheets, a testat, exam dates, exam registration and withdrawal, a week off and the rated weeks since lectures began come with it. The last week is deliberately left open so you can try catching up.

Module names and numbers come from the module handbook; weekdays and times are example values.

Sample data can be removed completely at any time under Settings → Data → Remove sample data. Your own data is left untouched, and a semester of your own that was active before is active again afterwards.

Tip: Start with the sample data. The rings only become meaningful once there is data — and the sample data shows you straight away what the whole thing is driving at.
