The widget
On iPhone and iPad, StudyNow also comes as a widget for the home screen – a small version of the calendar. To add it: touch and hold the home screen → + → StudyNow → Timetable. Three sizes:
- Small: what's on now or up next – with time, room and changes such as a room change or a substitute. Below it, what comes after.
- Medium: the day as a list, like the day view. Once the day is over it shows the next day with sessions ("Tomorrow").
- Large: at school, the week as a timetable – Monday to Friday, lesson by lesson, with A or B week or odd or even week; today and the current lesson are highlighted, cancelled lessons are struck through, a dot marks a change and a frame a test. At university, the next few days as a list.
Deadlines at university. At university the deadlines appear within the day between the sessions – with an hourglass, the time or “by end of day”, the course and the type. Completed ones are ticked, overdue ones marked in orange. Above them the widget says how many deadlines are overdue; tapping that opens the list of all deadlines. The small widget shows the next open deadline of the coming week at the bottom. School has tasks instead; there the widget shows the timetable.
Which area? By default the current area – the widget follows whatever is selected in the app. Touch and hold the widget → Edit widget → Learning area to pin it to school or university. That way two widgets can sit side by side.
Tapping a row opens that lesson or session, tapping elsewhere opens the day – switching the area in the app if needed.
The widget knows the next 14 days. The app hands it the plan whenever something changes and whenever you open it; if you don't open the app for a while, the widget asks you to. On a locked device (for example in StandBy) the contents stay hidden. The widget needs iOS 17 or later; there is none in the browser.
