Rating a session
Open a session — from StudyNow, from the calendar, or from a series' session list. Deadlines open from the dashboard, the calendar or the sessions section of a course.
A session can be rated only once it has started. Before that the page just shows what it is about, with “Rating opens on 11/12/2026 at 09:15” below. Rating tomorrow's lecture with “joy” today would be making up a value. Deadlines are not affected.
Cancelled sessions count as completed without anything to do; the page says “Cancelled – nothing to rate here”. Reinstate the session in the series' session list and it is open again.
The dialog fits on one screen: four scales plus the centre, no follow-up pages. With fifteen sessions a week, anything else is too much.

The same for every course — a course's properties drive the checklist, not the rating dialog. A course without problem sheets can be hard too.
The five buttons read −−, −, 0, + and ++. Buttons not chosen have a border and a clearly legible symbol; the chosen one is filled in its scale's colour. Below the row the two ends are spelled out, such as “No joy at all” on the left and “Loved it” on the right; the chosen value is shown next to the dimension's name. For difficulty the row runs from “Very easy” (−−) to “Very hard” (++) — the same direction as the ring.
Tapping a choice again clears it. Every choice is saved immediately.
Done
At the bottom of every session and deadline page is Done. With it you confirm that you mean it — the entry is then completed.
- Only the first item is required: participation, the result for an exam, a final state for a deadline. Until it is set, “Done” is greyed out. The four scales are optional.
- Completed means read-only: tapping the buttons changes nothing, and “Completed” is shown at the top. Trying out what the buttons do no longer changes anything by accident.
- Edit opens the entry again. It is open again then and gets completed with “Done” once more.
- Where “Done” takes you depends on where you came from: from catching up straight to the next open entry, otherwise back to where you came from.
If you were not there
Choose Absent and StudyNow asks: Did you go through the material? A yes turns it into Caught up — a state of its own, visibly different from “in person” and from “absent”.
The four dimensions are untouched by this. If you worked through the slides, you can rate joy, interest and understanding honestly; damping them as well would count the same thing twice.
If attendance was mandatory, the question does not appear. A red marker takes its place: something went wrong, and the app says so instead of offering a way out.
What StudyNow suggests
The StudyNow tab shows, at the top, the session that is running right now or has just finished, worked out from the time and the recurrence. When none is due, the list stays empty. Below that is the catch-up list.
